The best thing that has happened to me with the bigfoot songs.
I have just returned from an amazing five day road-trip attending 4 screenings of the bigfoot movie "Willow Creek". The film played to sold-out theaters in Seattle (at the Seattle International Film Festival), Eugene, Oregon and in Portland. Writer/Director Bobcat Goldthwait, producer Aimee Pierson and the 2 main actors, Bryce Johnson and Alexie Gilmore, were present at all of the screenings. Bobcat would introduce the film prior to each viewing - engaging the audience in a mix of comedy and gratitude. Afterwards, a Question and Answer session with him along with the actors would ensue. The audiences had many questions for all of the participants and were comprised of Bobcat Goldthwait fans and independent film afficianados...a few bigfoot enthusiasts attended the screenings, too.

Two nights of the movie tour were most special - Seattle and Portland. In Seattle, Bob Gimlin was in attendance as a guest of mine as was John Kirk, president of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club. Bob Gimlin really enjoyed the film and was invited to the stage for the Q&A session. The audience was noticeably surprised by his appearance and had several questions about his achievement along with Roger Patterson in obtaining the historic bigfoot film footage on October 20, 1967.

Bob Gimlin loved the film - Bobcat loved meeting Bob Gimlin.
My participation in this tour involved playing the complete version of "Roger and Bob (Rode Out That Day)" after the Q&A sessions. This is my tribute bigfoot song to Bob Gimlin and Roger Patterson - and is included in the film (I play 3 verses after a brief interview with the lead actor). It also provides the soundtrack for the end credits. A scintillating cover version recorded by indie rockers Rozwell Kid out of West Virginia blasts through the theater while the ending credits scroll. I couldn't be more thrilled to have this song in such an excellent project!

Portland turned out in droves at the final screening on Sunday night at the iconic Hollywood Theatre. The screening SOLD OUT and dozens of movie-goers were milling about on the sidewalk in front of the theater...momentarily disappointed as the theater soon decided to screen the film the following night.
The packed house was vibrant with excitement and anticipation for this premiere. The evening ended with a long Q&A session followed by a live audience participation "sing-a-long" with my performance. It was awesome! The brain trust behind the film - Bobcat, Aimee, Bryce and Alexie - decided to project the lyrics onto the big screen and have the audience sing along. It really was incredible - such an electric vibe - and a moment I'll always remember.

The capper of the Portland experience was getting to spend 2 days with one of my best friends, Cliff Barackman. He also happens to be one of the stars of "Finding Bigfoot" on Animal Planet and established as one of the best sasquatch researchers of our generation. I'll elaborate on our days together in another post. I stayed at his home in Portland and we had a "bigfoot cast" party on Sunday and he drove me around the forest and up to Mount Hood on Monday before taking me to the airport for my flight home. THANK YOU, Brother!! It was a fantastic time in the PNW!
